For 19 years, you, and the Rotary Club of Nanaimo-Oceanside have made this gala the premiere event in town. Your presence and support have made it both the most entertaining, and the most anticipated fundraiser of the year. To date this event has raised over $800,000 for youth programs and projects in your community, and we thank you for that.
Please join us this year at Nanaimo’s Beban Auditorium for “That 70’s Bond”, this June 1st, at 6pm.
There are several ways to get involved. Our preference is to have you and your friends at the event, and you can also help us raise funds by sponsoring the event at some level, or by donating an item for us to sell in our silent/live auctions.
1. Annual “James Bond” Gala – In the classic style of “James Bond”, this event begins 10 months prior with the selection of a James Bond movie which dictates the theme of the event. Hosting to 300 of our closest friends and supporters, and with the help of over 20 volunteers, we deliver a red carpet evening of extravagance including a floor show, live entertainment and dancing, an abundance of gourmet cuisine, both Live and Silent Auctions, casino, and the most memorable party of the year. In past years we have raised between $35,000 – $50,000 net proceeds for our community youth needs.
2. Christmas Food & Toy Drive – Our most heartfelt and self-satisfying event occurs in late November or early December when members of our club place notices on neighborhood doors advising we will be collecting toys and donations on a specific day for families less fortunate. Over two evenings, through rain, snow, hail and blizzards, our club members, their families and volunteers will go door to door, following Santa’s float with reindeer and elves, Christmas lights and music collecting food and cash donations along with thousands of toys. The evening ends at a local park with a bonfire, hot chocolate and hotdogs and the company of neighbors and friends who wish to join us in celebration.
